Joel Michael-Schwartz

Joel Michael-Schwartz ia an eclectic, curious mandolinist, composer, and strings specialist. He studied mandolin and composition at Goucher College, and has studied with mandolin greats Don Steirnberg and David Evans. He performs in a wide variety of genres, from classical to funk, and from flamenco to jazz. This eclecticism informs his performances and his composing. He has a particular focus on the art of solo and small group performance, which has led him to focus on non-traditional chamber music. He works as a performing musician and teacher in Baltimore, spreading the love of music, and striving to bring passion, artistry, and good humor to all his artistic endeavors.
