Megan Wei

MEGAN WEI is a performing soloist and passionate chamber and orchestral musician. Throughout her career, Wei has performed at numerous music festivals and studied under renowned musical teachers across the world. Wei attended the Aspen Music Festival as a fellow from 2016-2020. Additionally, Wei has attended the NUME Festival, Tibor Varga Music Academy, and the Danish String Quartet Academy, and Festival d’Aix en Provence, where her quartet was mentored by members of the Berlin Philharmonic. Wei has collaborated with Choong-Jin Chang, Masao Kawasaki, Michael Mermagen, and Michael Kannen. Her chamber music mentors have included Seth Knopp, Diana Ligeti, Emmanuelle Bertrand, Tim Frederiksen, the American String Quartet, and the Danish String Quartet. While studying on scholarship at the Manhattan School of Music, Wei was accepted to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) with Jean Sulem. Her principal teachers include Victoria Chiang, Samuel Rhodes, Choong-Jin Chang, Masao Kawasaki, and John Kochanowski. Other solo mentors include Misha Amory and Jennifer Stumm. She has participated in masterclasses with Koichiro Harada, Roberto Diaz, Paul Coletti, and Nobuko Imai. Wei has served as principal violist of the Vanderbilt Symphony, Manhattan School of Music Chamber Sinfonia, and Peabody Symphony Orchestras. Wei is a substitute violist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the New World Symphony. Wei maintains a private viola studio online and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Peabody Institute of Music in Baltimore, Maryland.
